Change can be really scary when you know it’s time to move forward into unknown and unfamiliar places. Especially when you feel like you are just a beginner on the path you know you must travel. But none the less, deep down you know you must make the change.
But why must you make a change?.. Because deep down in your core, you know if you don’t take action very soon and make the needed changes it’s unlikely that the quality of your life is going to get better all by itself. In fact you also know that things will most likely get worse over time. But how?.. When you’re scared to make the needed changes? Where do you start and what do you do?
..Well the good news is there is a lot you can do starting right here, right now, today, with the following six tips to help you take the actions you need to take:
1.Work Out Your Risks
Make a list of exactly what your risks are. Include in this list all that you are scared of giving up (potentially or 100% for actually) if you make your needed change. Then as you move forward consider the value of the things you listed. Are your risks more than your rewards?
2.Envision Your Future (After You’ve Changed)
Pause for a moment, shut your eyes and then envision how your best future will look and feel once you’ve made the needed changes. Think on every aspect of your life that this change will affect. Does this future vision of your life feel right? Are good things taking place in your envisioned future?
3.Envision Your Future (If You Don’t Change)
Now think about your future life again. But this time think about how your life will look and feel if you don’t make the needed change(s). Are you happy or sad? Is life a monotonous blur of boredom that lacks meaning and purpose?.. Or is life sort of.. just ok? Now compare side by side the two possible futures you have envisioned.. Be completely honest with yourself.. Which future seems better with more happiness and fulfillment?
4.Recruit The Help You Need
Change is scary and challenging, but you do not have to go it alone. Recruit the essential people in your life to support you through these changes. This can be a partner, friend, parent, or anyone willing to give advice, a shoulder, or help, to fill in the gaps in other areas of your life as you go through the transitions.
5.Begin With Small Baby Steps
Giant Oak Trees grow from little seeds. Likewise, you don’t have to jump in with both feet when you first begin making the needed changes in your life. For beginning small is better than never beginning at all. So never despise the day of small beginnings, if beginning small is what you want, or need to do..
For all Masters were once beginners. And little consistent steps each day, week, and month add up to big changes over time. So run your race at your own pace staying true to your own inner vision.. Whilst also making sure to enjoy the journey along the way..
6.Forgive Yourself Along the Way
As long as we are human, mistakes and missteps will happen. Of course, we must plan to minimize our mistakes. But mistakes and missteps are all part of the journey. Just as a baby must fall down before it learns to walk.. then run.. then fly..
So cut yourself some slack and forgive yourself every time you fall down. And fall down you will. But as long as you fail forward each time you fall. And as long as you learn.. readjust.. and grow wiser with each fall, then you will win in the game of life.
So in Summary
Taking the action steps we need to take to change our lives for the better, doesn’t need to be an all or nothing situation. Furthermore we don’t have to take the journey ahead all by ourselves. So if you know it’s time to change your life, then follow these six tips starting right now today. And when you do, you will go a long way in setting yourself up for Success and Happiness!
And one last thing, always remember..
To become who you are meant to be, you must let go of who you once were”
Until next time..
